Trailer Towing
Time Commitment: 4 hours

As a Saskatchewan Class 5 driver, you can pull a trailer up to 6400 kgs with an appropriately sized tow vehicle. This course is designed to fill in the gaps from a first-time trailer tow to a seasoned veteran. In this class, the operator will learn the different classes of hitches, trailer sizing and design, as well as operating the trailer in situations to give you the confidence to safely operate.  A key factor in this course will be Gross Combined Weight Rating, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating and Gross Trailer Weight Ratings.

Confined Space
Time Commitment: 1 Day

In Saskatchewan, we classify confined spaces into two categories, hazardous and non-hazardous.  At CAN Safety Training and Consulting we take that classification even further, using an industry recognized approach, we break down Confined Space Training into a 5-step program.  Employees will be set to tackle any Confined Space situation.

Fall Protection
Time Commitment: 1 Day

Working at heights is a daily practice in many industries, it is often left up to the employee to assess the situation and determine what is needed. This course will give the employees the tools needed to properly identify where proper fall protection is needed, both from a legislative standpoint and an industry best practice. CAN Safety Training and Consulting will take a simple and interactive approach to fall protection. Identify what is working at heights, identifying and understanding the equipment needed, proper fit, and finally proper inspection and maintenance.

Cargo Securement
Time Commitment: 4 hours

In 2011, the Saskatchewan government changed the legislation to security of loads, outlining several key factors in the load and securement process. This course will teach the primary and secondary attachment rules, discuss the connection between weight of the load and the amount of tie downs and include the distribution of weight across the vehicle and/or trailer.

Trailer Towing w/Security of Loads (Cargo Securement)
Time Commitment: 1 Day

As a Saskatchewan Class 5 driver, you can pull a trailer up to 6400kg with an appropriately sized tow vehicle. Alongside the trailer operation training, CAN Safety Training and Consulting will teach the primary and secondary attachment rules, discuss the connection between weight of the load and the amount of tie downs and include the distribution of weight across the vehicle and/or trailer. This comprehensive course will give each operator the working knowledge of the Security of Loads legislation and a complete understanding of tie downs and cargo securement.

OverHead Crane
Time Commitment: 1 Day

This one day course will give each employee the skills, knowledge and confidence to safely operate any overhead crane up to a 5 ton load. This course will provide the operator with the understanding of overhead cranes, the main parts, general operation and the maintenance. In crane training, we know that the job is only half done if we do not discuss general rigging safety and below the hook legislation. Rigging safety is a large part of any crane course at CAN Safety Training and Consulting.

Mobile Crane (Boom Truck)
Time Commitment: 1-2 Days depending on size of equipment

This one day course will give each employee the skills, knowledge and confidence to safely operate any jib or knuckle boom crane up to a 5-ton load. This course will provide the operator with the understanding of the common truck mounted cranes, the main parts, general operation and the maintenance. In crane training, we know that the job is only have done if we do not discuss general rigging safety and below the hook legislation. Rigging safety is a large part of any crane course at CAN Safety Training and Consulting.

Truck Mounted Aerial Lift (Bucket Truck)
Time Commitment: 1-2 Days depending on size of equipment

Truck mounted aerial lifts are a constant in any mobile workforce. The ability to transport workers along municipal and provincial roadways to any worksite and then repair and maintain equipment at heights can make the job safe and efficient. CAN Safety Training and Consulting recognizes this need and provides operators with a solid understanding of Center of Gravity, Leverage and Stability. These fundamentals create the base for aerial training.  In this one day course we will discuss the differences between the over center and the telescopic aerial lift, ensuring that each person understands the controls, set up and maintenance of their specific equipment. Employees should have Fall Protection training.

Aerial Work Platform (BoomLift Scissorlift)
Time Commitment: 2 Days
To Meet; OH/S Regs
Table 14.1 PME

Aerial Work Platforms are a constant in any construction and operations workforce. The ability to repair and maintain equipment at heights can make the job safe and efficient. CAN Safety Training and Consulting recognizes this need and provides operators with a solid understanding of Center of Gravity, Leverage and Stability. These fundamentals create the base for aerial training. In this two day course we will discuss the variations in machines and the different styles of aerial lifts, ensuring that each person understands the controls, set up and maintenance of their specific equipment. Employees should have Fall Protection training.

Telehandler
Time Commitment: 2 Days
To Meet; OH/S Regs
Table 14.1 PME

In any construction site, the need to lift materials to heights efficiently is a must. The telehandler can do this job. Combining the lifting capabilities with a mobile crane reach, the telehandler is a tool in demand. This two day course will cover the inspection, maintenance and operation of a telehandler. The primary focus in the operations training will be load weight estimation and calculations. This critical focus is due to the variable center of gravity and decreasing load capacity of the telehandler. At CAN Safety Training and Consulting, we understand the need for operators to be work ready, this course can give them the skills and knowledge to be ready.

Forklift
Time Commitment: 2 Days
To Meet; OH/S Regs
Table 14.1 PME

A staple in any warehouse and maintenance yard, the counterbalance forklift can make lifting and sorting material a simple job. In order for the forklift to create this simple work environment, the machine itself is a complex machine weighing much more than your average vehicle. CAN Safety Training and Consulting creates an environment that will teach each operator the ability to inspect, maintain, maneuver, and operate the forklift safely and efficiently. All this in a fun informative way.

Rigging Training
Time Commitment: 2 Days
To Meet; OH/S Regs
Table 14.1 PME

Focusing specifically on below the overhead crane hook operations, this on-site course focuses on general rigging safety. The course includes turning loads at 90 degrees and at 180 degrees. Operators will learn how to properly inspect rigging gear, correct load angles, using multiple types of rigging in combination and safe rigging practices.

Skid Steer
Time Commitment: 2 Days
